One of the primary fundraising goals of Army Officers’ Spouses’ Club of the Greater Washington Area (AOSCGWA) is to raise money for scholarships for members, their spouses, and their children. The applicant or the applicant’s parent must be an active member in good standing of AOSCGWA prior to submitting their application.
This is a limited eligibility scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship, all the following criteria must be met by an applicant:
1. The applicant or the applicant’s parent must be an active member in good standing of AOSCGWA prior to submitting an application.
2. Applicants must be attending (if applying as a college student) or plan to attend an accredited post-secondary institution in a degree program for the 2017-2018 school year.
3. Both applicants and their sponsor must live in one of the following cities or counties located in the Greater Washington D. C. Metropolitan Area:
a. District of Columbia
b. In Maryland: Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Montgomery or Prince George’s County
c. In Virginia: The Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Stafford or Prince William or the Cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas or Manassas Park
4. High school senior and college applicants must have a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average in their current program.
Scholarships are merit-based scholarships and are awarded based upon consideration of academic qualifications, community involvement and/or leadership potential. To ensure fairness and impartiality, judging is done anonymously.
Scholarship applications will be accepted beginning February 15, 2017.
The deadline for the filing of scholarship applications is April 14, 2017.
